Moving from N to full Class 5
The Class 5 road test is the second and final behind-the-wheel test in the BC Graduated Licensing Program. You can take it after at least 24 months on your Novice (N) licence with no driving prohibitions. Pass it and you receive your full Class 5 licence — no more N magnet, no passenger or alcohol restrictions, full driving privileges.
What's different about the Class 5 test
The Class 5 road test goes further than the Class 7. Expect higher-speed roads, possibly the Trans-Canada Highway, more complex intersections, and longer routes. Examiners watch for confident lane changes, smooth merging, proper following distances at highway speeds, and judgment in faster, denser traffic.
